Ans:
there are three main characters of the story "The open windows"  by H.H.Munro 
1. Mr. Framton Nuttle.
2 Mrs. Sappleton and
3. Vera the niece of Mr. &  Mrs.sappleton
There is another fellow, Mrs. sappleton, who appears for a little time near the end of the story. The  name of Mr. Framton Nettle makes us remember two things: (a) nut & (b) nettle
